One of the most iconic Bali photos on the internet is thanks to the Handara Golf & Resort Bali gate. So if you’re heading north on your Bali tour, here’s everything you need to know about how to capture that photo of the insta-famous Bali gates.
The Famous Bali Gates – Handara Golf & Resort
Getting to Handara Golf & Resort Bali
Hardara Golf & Resort is located in the North of Bali around the Bedugul area.
The Bali gates are a beautiful spot and if you follow the map, you can’t really miss them or the huge turn in sign from the road.
Why Visit The Handara Golf & Resort?
As the name suggests Handara Golf & Resort Bali is a fully functioning golf club. A golf club though, with very tall and picturesque entrance gates.
The Bali gates have become crazily popular thanks to social media and are now at the top of most visitors lists particularly as a must have Bali photo.
Our Experience At The Bali Gate
So off we set with a gang of friends and headed up from Canggu on scooters at 5am to catch sunrise! We couldn’t help but get off our scooters to capture the sun coming up behind the volcano.
One friendy reminder, WEAR A JUMPER! Getting up at 5am and driving up north is pretty cold to say the least. You can see in Lauren’s eyes how cold she was.
We’d heard rumours of how busy the Bali gates can get and how the locals now charge money to take photos in front of the famous entrance. Although when we arrived, it was empty!
Maybe we got lucky, or maybe it was the fact we headed up so early, but we smashed out our content and moved on with the day.
Do They Charge?
So we passed back later that day on the way home and the second of the rumours we’d heard were true.
Like any tourist attraction the owners have now chucked a price on the famous Bali gates. Charging 10,000 Rupiah to take a photo and issuing actual SELFIE tickets as receipts.
So if you want the photo bad enough guys you’ll have to cough up 50p or get up early for sunrise!
