We’d read all about the peace and serenity that flows through Maya as well as its paddy fields. So who were we to say no to a little down time on the South East coast…
Situated down a long lane, amidst palm trees and the sounds of birds, we were warmly greeted by the team at Maya, a luxury boutique hotel/villa just a few kilometres from Tangalle.
The Gardens of Maya
As far as first impressions go the front gate gives you everything you need to know about the place! As soon as it opened we were taken aback by the trees upon trees and freshly kept grass. There were hammocks, deckchairs and bamboo furniture scattered around the lawn, oh and not to forget the yoga hut looking out into the neatly kept paddy fields.
Nuwan, Silva and the team were at our service from the very get go and couldn’t do enough for us. After handing us our welcome drinks and giving us a tour of the property they swiftly showed us to our beautiful suite.
The suite came with A/C, a huge bed and a cosy little work space as well as an outside patio that was perfect for relaxing in the evenings
As for the bathroom it had everything from in-wall shampoo holders to handheld mirrors and night robes to keep you feeling fresh.
The open spaced shower area and all its little ammenities were nothing short of bliss.
The centre piece of the accommodation had to be the L-shaped pool that followed the design of the property. That, accompanied with the delicious breakfast as well as the tranquil atmosphere made Maya a sanctuary on the south coast.
