Galle Fort is the home to many beautiful monuments and absolutely flooding with history. A stay at The Bartizan complete with both fort and ocean views was definitely a must…
Recently opened six months ago, Sam and his family have done an amazing job of putting all of their love and creativity into this stunning property. In The Bartizan they now have a vintage, european style building with fresh modern decoration accommodating all of those boutique hotel lovers that pass through Galle.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with fresh juices and face towels. before being introduced to Sam, his wife and their beautiful daughter. We sat down to hear about their background and also what brought them to back to Galle Fort.
Up the staircases we walked to our top floor room that came with a balcony overlooking the ocean. Inside was a beautiful open planned bedroom complete with a memory foam mattress. The cosy chill out area tucked away was ideal for movie nights.
Directly at the opposite end of the suite was a high ceilinged bathroom. The symmetrical layout made it not only unique, but again simple and easy to negotiate. Pastel colours against stone/white walls really completed the European theme and screamed out luxury.
Simplicity ran through the grounds of The Bartizan giving it the high class approach. Its unique patio balcony over looked the whole ocean and gave the most amazing view of sunset!
The staff were attentive to all of our needs during our stay, even down to the breakfast choices. A cute menu was handed to us the night before so that our order was filled in ready. This was all to make sure our selection of fresh fruit and pancakes or traditional Sri Lankan delicacies were ready right on time in the A.M.
Overall our stay at The Bartizan was like travelling back in time to an artsy piece of Europe in the middle of Sri Lanka. Its classy and chic approach with beautiful attention to detail left no question that the guys clearly take great pride in their hotel. They have made it a home from home for the visitors of Galle.
