With Villa Saffron backing onto Hikkaduwa beach and an interesting story behind their love of furniture, we were excited for a relaxing stay at this blissful hideaway…
Villa Saffron is a beautiful, chic style accomodation situated on the white coastal strip of Hikkaduwa. Originally started up as a furniture business, Evangeline and Milinda soon incorporated their designs and started a new venture creating beautiful villas furnished by themselves.
From the moment we walked in, we fell in love with the design. We were welcomed by Yohan and presented with fresh watermelon juice and a cold flannel before being shown around the exclusive 5 Suite Villa that contains the owners personal art and furniture collected over the years.
On our way through to our Tamarind suite, we were blown back by how spacious and luxurious the property was. A sense of calm takes over you with the dimmed lighting and soft setting. The rooms were extremely spacious and the bedding was super soft with fluffy pillows that completely sunk you into a deep nights sleep.
Just like the bedroom and the rest of the grounds, the bathroom was open planned and completely immaculate. Inclusive of all your little amenities and elegant decor, the added idea of customised Villa Saffron towels gave it a touch of class.
Both upstairs and downstairs lounge areas were as you’d imagine your dream home. With plush sofas and unique sculptures lazing around came easy at Villa Saffron.
Our favourite part of our whole stay though, and feature point of the grounds, was the swimming pool. Looking out through the palm trees and over the ocean, the pool was unbelievable. Making for a memorable place to lay back or admire whilst eating breakfast, the outlook was incredible.
As for the food; we ate breakfast and dinner during both of our two nights stay and couldn’t fault it in any way. A delicious choice of cuisine, all presented by the friendliest team. Our final night was something we’ll never forget, dining amongst the tranquil setting of candles and listening to the sounds of the crashing ocean finished our time at Villa Saffron perfectly!
