Mount Agung has caught all sorts of media attention in the past year for its ongoing eruptions, turning tourism in Bali into somewhat chaos. Although after 5 months on the island, we decided to take the long trip out East to witness one of the most beautiful moments of our travels – the Mount Agung Sunrise Viewpoint.
How To Get To Mount Agung Sunrise Viewpoint
The easiest way to find this exact location for sunrise is to head directly to BUKIT CINTA on google maps. That way you won’t be able to miss the beautiful view on your left hand side.
Many people heading to East Bali choose to stay in the small beach town of Amed, which is around 30 minutes from the Mount Agung Viewpoint.
FREEEEE, it’s nature!
Our Sunrise At Mount Agung
So we set off on scooters from Canggu at 4am on our trip out East, starting with the Mount Agung sunrise viewpoint!
It was pretty a straight forward journey, in fact it was very much one straight road all the way to the destination. We were kitted out with all the essentials – our camera, our tripod and a bunch of bananas!
We arrived a little after 6.15am just in time to catch the sun waking up and sending rays of light onto the peak of the mountain.
Mount Agung stands at 3031 metres tall making it the highest point in Bali. And although we were standing miles away from it, the sheer size of it was still daunting.
There’s not much more to say about the location or the Mount Agung sunrise viewpoint, it’s pretty self explanatory. We’ll let the photos do the talking. Although we did put a caption together for our Instagram post which pretty much sums up our feelings from that morning…
‘You know that feeling when you’re up and exploring at 4am? Everything’s still, everything’s quiet and it feels like the whole world is still sleeping. The air smells like night time and it’s so fresh that it gives you shivers. When the first sun rays peek over the edge of the earth and everything is bathed in foggy, golden light – all you can do is stand there and watch as the earth awakens. It’s at this moment, everything feels so real and all of your problems are forgotten. You soon realise the early wake up was totally worth it. Because for now, it’s just you, your loved one and the sunrise.’
