Our first stop when flying into Myanmar was Yangon and where better place to start than on a luxury yacht in the centre of the city…
Upon arrival at the Vintage Luxury Yacht Hotel we didn’t really know what to expect but were soon taken aback by the sheer size and beauty of the ship.
We were escorted down the aisle towards the entrance, where we boarded our vessel for an outstanding 4 night stay.
The reception gave an immediate impression of not only luxury but professionalism. The guys greeting us couldn’t have been happier and ready to assist with all of our needs.
We were given an all round tour of the magnificent 1920s themed ship, learning every small detail behind the history and making of the boat. The old, rustic style ran throughout, really making you feel like you’d taken a jump back in time.
Our bedroom was our favourite place of all. You could perch yourself on the river view balcony and watch the ships go by. The attention to detail really was impeccable, from the barrel fridge and ‘old school’ telephone to the leather suitcase style interior.
It was such a refreshing feeling when using the bathroom and finding new things that were not like any other place we’ve been. The rope coving and warm lighting really gave that ‘boat feel’ and made it feel super homely.
On the boat, there are five levels which consist of 104 rooms – including two suites, two conference rooms, two restaurants, two bars, a wellness centre and spa, and even a theatre. You really don’t have to leave the boat if you don’t want to. The majority of our time was spent on the third floor playing pool and darts.
The overall decoration and interior design is definitely something of royal class. From the lighting around the staircases to the finely detailed cutlery it deserves to have the title of ‘Vintage and Luxury’.
The restaurants, along with the service, were faultless and the staff couldn’t have been any more kind or attentive. We experienced our anniversary on the Luxury Yacht so a three course meal was in order and it was absolutely delicious….not to mention the buffet breakfast being a favourite little throwback to home comforts with tasty egg and beans on toast with hash browns! You can tell that the whole team take great pride in their work and always prioritise guests over everything.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the ship that took us back in time. It was right up our street with the old school and vintage surroundings mixed with modern activities such as the outdoor jacuzzi pictured below! The hotel really does have an amazing atmosphere which helped all the more to make it an unforgettable stay.
