A Basic Guide To Everything El Nido

With El Nido, Palawan emerging as the most popular tourist destination in the Philippines, a lot of visitors find themselves asking the same age old question…which island hopping tour do we take?…

So to save you racking your brains when you arrive, here are the basic options available.

Tours

Firstly you need to know there are four options available, tours A, B, C & D and here’s exactly what they consist of:

Tour A:
Small Lagoon
Big Lagoon
Shimizu Island
Secret Lagoon
7 Commando Beach

Tour B:
Cathedral Cave
Cudugnon Beach
Entalula Island
Pinagbuyutan Island

Tour C:
Secret Beach
Hidden Beach
Helicopter Island
Talisay Beach

Tour D:
Ipil Beach
Cadlao Lagoon
Paradise Beach
Pasandigan Beach
Natnat Beach
Bukal Beach

We can only speak from experience but we took tours A & C and were not disappointed!

Costs

You’ll find booking agents all over town with prices for a single tour varying from around 1400 to 1700 php (Philippine Peso) per person.

Our recommendation is to get a group together (minimum 4 people) and negotiate a deal for your own private boat – we ended up paying 1700 php per person to do both tours A & C in one day plus a huge vegetarian lunch thrown in. This way it beats sharing a boat with another 10 tourists all fighting for the same photos.

What Else To Do In El Nido

Las Cabanas For Sunset – The main beach in El Nido town and the best spot for sunset is easily Las Cabanas. Every tricycle driver will be offering to take you there and you should definitely take up the offer at least once to experience the evening beach bar vibes.

Rent Scooters And Visit Nacpan – One of the most beautiful beaches in the Philippines, Nacpan is a dream destination and after hearing so many recommendations we took the trip up for a couple of days to hang out on the white sand. If you have the time definitely head up to Nacpan!

Where To Stay

Makulay Lodge – Just a short walk from the main street Makulay is a hidden gem with its jungle covered cabins and ocean view restaurant we had an awesome couple of nights here.

Where To Eat

Falafel Restaurant – The name says it all and it really was one of the best falafel wraps we’ve ever tasted! It does also serve chicken and kofta options with all the fresh veggies and sauces you can wish for!
