Getting around Bali couldn’t be easier. There are generally 3 options:

We always choose to rent scooters, which start at around 50,000 IDR per day, and explore ourselves.

However be sure to read up on our Renting A Scooter In Bali guide beforehand!

Most accommodations will allow you to store your big bags with them, even after checkout.

So if you’re comfortable on two wheels, and looking for somewhere to rent scooters from, you can book a trusted scooter rental here.

Another option is to rent a driver, which is pretty popular for day trips around Bali, and they start at around 500,000 IDR per day (8 hours).

You can opt for standard 5 seater vans, or larger minibuses for bigger groups.

This is a great option for those looking to design their own itinerary. Simply jump in, tell you driver exactly where you wish to go, and he’ll navigate the most efficient route.

If you’re looking for for a reliable service, you can book a private car with a driver for the day here.

Some of the best days out we’ve had in Bali have been on private tours.

For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

There’s even a Bali: Full-Day Instagram Highlights Tour, for those looking to photograph its most recognisable locations.

From sunrise hikes, to waterfall treks and island hopping, there’s plenty to keep you busy on the bustling island!

Learn To Surf

Of all the places in the world to learn how to surf, Bali was up there for us.

The best place to learn in Canggu is at Echo Beach, where beginners tend to head daily.

We couldn’t not take a surfing lesson. It was such a fun experience and made us really want to rent our own board and get out and practice more and more.

Most board rentals start at 60,000 IDR for 2 hours, or you can grab a 2 hours lesson for 350,000 IDR (including board rental).

Definitely add it to your Bali bucket list is you haven’t already!

Our favourite markets are held in Canggu and Ubud. Canggu host a few different markets throughout the month, however the famous Art Market In Ubud is on every day of the week.

Eat Tempe In An Indonesian Warung

Tempe is a traditional Indonesian soy product, that is made from fermented soybeans. ‘Warung’ basically means ‘restaurant’ in Indonesian so you will find an infinite amount of warungs.

Some will be modern and some will be super local and by local, we mean a guy selling soups and Nasi Goreng from his wheeled cart down the street.

Our favourite Warung in the whole of Bali is Warung Bu Mi. Run by a lovely local family, they are absolutely killing it with their home-cooked goodness and we often visited for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Mount Batur is the second largest active volcano in Bali after Mount Agung, and Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking is one of the most popular things to do on the island.

Standing at 1717 metres tall, due to Mount Agung’s consistent eruptions, it is the highest Volcano hike accessible to the public.

There is no need to worry however, as trekking Mount Batur is monitored daily by seismologists and the last eruption was in the year 2000.

Dolphin Watching In Lovina

Dolphin watching off the coast of Lovina is the main attraction of this laidback coastal town in North Bali.

There are many tours where you can expect frequent sightings of pods that favour these calm waters.

A typical morning at the coast starts before sunrise . You’ll have to get up early as the tours are usually on-time, waiting on shore with their boats.

After preparing life vests, you board and head out into the bay. The boats can often get you out within minutes.

At sea, the engines are stopped and the waiting game begins. At times, you can see breaching dolphins right after your boat reaches the open waters.

Visit The Abandoned Aeroplane

The infamous abandoned aeroplane is one to add to your Bali bucket list!

Nobody knows the true story of why it appeared in a field in South Bali.

A lot of rumours say it was bought in pieces by a westerner and put together to be turned into a fully functioning restaurant. However, as you can see, the project was never finished but it still stands as one of the hidden gems of Bali.

You are not allowed to access the plane from the ground. It is fenced off with ‘no trespassing’ signs.
