One of the most iconic Bali photos is thanks to the now-famous Handara Bali gates. So if you’re heading north in Bali, here’s everything you need to know.
The Famous Handara Bali Gates – All You Need To Know
Hardara Golf & Resort is located in the North of Bali around the Bedugul area.
The famous Bali gates are located directly on the side of the road so if you follow Google maps, you can’t really miss them. If you do need help, there’s a huge sign showing where to turn in from the road.
We stayed in the Canggu area and rented scooters long term, although you can pick them up for around 50,000 Rupiah per day. Renting scooters is the best way to explore Bali and the drive from Canggu took around 2 hours in the early morning.
We passed through at sunrise and nobody was there. Although later that day on the way home there was a tent with a security guard at the entrance charging 10,000 Rupiah.
Like any tourist attraction the owners have now chucked a price on the famous Bali gates, and issue actual SELFIE tickets as receipts.
So if you want the photo bad enough guys you’ll have to cough up 50p or get up early for sunrise!
As the name suggests Handara Golf & Resort Bali is a fully functioning golf club. A golf club though, with very tall and picturesque entrance gates.
The Bali gates have become crazily popular thanks to social media and are now at the top of most visitors lists particularly as a must have Bali photo.
So off we set with a gang of friends and headed up from Canggu on scooters at 5am to catch sunrise! We couldn’t help but get off our scooters to capture the sun coming up behind the volcano.
One friendy reminder, WEAR A JUMPER! Getting up at 5am and driving up north is pretty cold to say the least. You can see in Lauren’s eyes how cold she was.
We’d heard rumours of how busy the Bali gates can get and how the locals now charge money to take photos in front of the famous entrance. Although when we arrived, it was empty!
Maybe we got lucky, or maybe it was the fact we headed up so early. Either way we smashed out our content and moved on with the day.
Or you can take a dip and call off at one of the many Northern waterfalls such as Sekumpul Waterfall or Aling Aling. The North has plenty of places to explore, but if you’re heading that way why not stop and grab a shot at the Handara Golf & Resort Bali gates for memories!
