Batu Payung Lombok is home to one of the most unusual and amazing coastal landforms we’ve seen. It’s quickly becoming a photo spot on Lombok amongst tourists, as well as a beautiful place to chill at low tide. Our sunset at Batu Payung was certainly a highlight we’ll remember! Here’s everything you need for your visit.
How To Get To Batu Payung Lombok
Batu Payung is around a 15 minute drive from Kuta, the main tourist area in Lombok.
We rented scooters for 50,000 IDR a day and chose to explore the south of Lombok on two wheels.
Drivers are available throughout town to rent daily if you’re not confident on scooters and Batu Payung is easy to find using the google map below.

Sunset At Batu Payung Lombok
Batu Payung is a uniquely shaped rock that stands alone on the western side of Lombok.
It’s becoming very popular for photographers and tourists looking to capture a quirky shot and is an awesome spot for sunset.
To get to the unusual rock that sits on the tip of the island, it takes 15 minutes to walk from the carpark. You have to venture across some pretty slippery rocks. So be careful! We nearly fell over numerous times.
Also, make sure to check the tide before you head to Batu Payung. As when the tide is up, you won’t be able to reach as far as the famous rock. You can check the tides here.
If you’ve already been to Tanjung Aan Beach you can see Batu Payung sitting opposite in the distance and it’s only a 10 minute drive so don’t miss it!
We spent one evening clambering over the rocks and hanging out at sunset. With this magical spot producing one of the prettiest skies of our travels.
