Trekking Cima Vezzena (Pizzo Di Levico) – A Complete Guide

Forte Cima Vezzena Trek Pizzo Di Levico Trek Valsugana Trek

Cima Vezzena, aka Pizzo Di Levico, is the number one spot to see the stunning views of Valsugana Valley and more from 1908m high. Here’s all the details.

How To Get To Cima Vezzena

The starting point of the hike to Cima Vezzena is located at Vezzena Pass, located along the SS 349 which goes from Lavarone to Asiago. It’s also only a short 25 minute drive from Caldonazzo.

After reaching the pass, you can park at Hotel Vezzena or Ristorante al Verle. From either of these points, simply follow the signs along the paved road towards Cima Vezzena.

We recommend renting a car for your entire Italy trip. That way you can pick up the car from the airport and explore the region at ease. Another option is of course a private taxi to Vezzena Pass.

What To Expect At Cima Vezzena

The Cima Vezzena Peak is also known as Mount Pizzo Di Levico. The starting point is at Passo Vezzena, 1402m high. The trek is an easy, flat gravelled trail leading up to a 1908 metre peak. Towards the start of the trek, you pass through some shaded forest. However, after this you will be directly beneath the sun so don’t forget your sunscreen.

It takes roughly 1.5 hours to reach the amazing panoramic views from the top. You can also take the same route on the way down.

We didn’t have to wait to get to the top for the beautiful views.

Shortly before you reach the top, the remains of a former fortress will become visible. It was completely destroyed at the beginning of the first World War and the colour of the cement is exactly the same as the rocks.  So, you are not only rewarded with the views from the summit, but the great Forte Cima Vezzena is a real gem too.

From the top, you can spot many recognisable places down below, a few being, Valsugana Valley, the Brenta Dolomites and the two lakes, Lago Di Caldonazzo and Lago Di Levico.

You can dedicate your whole morning to this trek as it will take roughly 4 hours all round. Don’t forget to take plenty of water and fill your bag up with some energising snacks too!
