Things To Do At Gardens By The Bay

Gardens By The Bay Supertree Grove

Supertree Grove is the main tourist attraction located within Gardens By The Bay Singapore, and has a huge deal to do with why so many tourists flock here daily.

It’s completely free to enter, and the incredible Supertrees stand between 25 and 50 metres tall. The iconic tree-like vertical gardens are also home to the famous Garden Rhapsody light show every evening.

Throughout the day though, their large canopies provide shade, and you can also take a stroll along the 22-metre-high OCBC Skyway to enjoy the panoramic views of the gardens.

Below the Supertrees there are plenty of great spots to lay down a blanket and relax, or you could even take a picnic to Gardens By The Bay to enjoy there.

Of the 18 Supertrees in Gardens by the Bay, 12 of them can be found here at Supertree Grove, with the tallest one measuring up to 16 storeys in height.

At night they come alive in the not to be missed Garden Rhapsody light show, featuring beautiful colours and melodies.

With two shows daily at 7:45pm and 8:45pm, these 15 minutes of magic are an absolute must on your Singapore itinerary!

Gardens By The Bay Flower Dome

Listed as the largest glass greenhouse in the world in the 2015 Guinness World Records, the Flower Dome at Gardens By The Bay covers over 1.2 hectares of ground.

From baobabs and bottle trees, to the Australian, Californian and Mediterranean gardens, here you’ll find one of the most impressive displays of plants and native floral on earth.

Inside the Flower Dome, the temperature is kept constantly between 23ºC and 25ºC. Plus the humidity is regulated at around 60% – 80% in order for the plants to flourish.

Open daily from 9:00am until 9:00pm, you will need a ticket to enter, which you can purchase in advance here: Flower Dome + Cloud Forest Admission E-Ticket.

It really does make for  peaceful afternoon stroll, and if you like flowers then you’ll be in your element. Plus the air conditioning is a comfortable escape from the sometimes tiring Singapore humidity.

Fun fact: 3,332 glass panels of 42 different shapes and sizes were needed to cover the whole 16,000m2 surface area of the dome.

Gardens By The Bay Cloud Forest

Located directly next door to the Flower Dome, the Cloud Forest is a 35-metre tall mountain, covered in lush vegetation and boasting the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.

Here you’ll enter a more mysterious world than that of the Flower Dome, as the Cloud Forest creates a misty atmosphere for you to explore amongst.

With plant life from tropical highlands, typically found at around 2,000 metres above sea level, it’s a great place to learn about the rarer plants found within Gardens By The Bay and their fast-disappearing environment. Think of it almost as a man made forest with controlled weather!

Most people choose to take an elevator up to the top of the dome, and then wind your way back down the path towards the exit, observing all of the different plants and educational opportunities along the way.

Again, open daily from 9:00am until 9:00pm, you will need a ticket to enter, which you can purchase in advance here: Flower Dome + Cloud Forest Admission E-Ticket.

Also, don’t forget to check out the huge waterfall, which has become a hit with photographers in Singapore, which you can view from the board walk at the top.

You’ll likely find yourself standing in awe at the breathtaking views from the top walkway, and the walk around the dome itself.

OCBC Skyway

The OCBC Skyway is a 128 metre long walkway, connecting the magic of the Supertree Grove.

This high-rise platform stands at 22-metres high, and is a great way to witness the panoramic views of the garden from above.

It connects two of the Supertrees, giving visitors an up-close look at the technical marvels of the Garden’s most popular futuristic attraction.

Open daily from 9:00am until 9:00pm, you will need a ticket to enter, which you can purchase in advance here: Gardens By The Bay + OCBC Skyway Combo Tickets

The whole Skyway can be completed in 10-15 minutes, although the views are not just incredible of the Gardens, but Singapore harbour and the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

We visited in the morning so it was super quiet, and we can imagine it gets pretty throughout the day. But then again, the view from OCBC Skyway as the sun goes down and Singapore turns its lights on must be spectacular.

Either way, one thing’s for sure, your Gardens By The Bay Singapore experience will be fully complete having ticked off the high flying yellow bridge.
