The beaches at Haad Rin Koh Phangan had some of the softest white sand we’d seen on the whole island. Here’s everything you need to know when visiting!
Where Is The Beach In Haad Rin Koh Phangan?
Haad Rin Beach Koh Phangan is located on the southern tip of the island and the most spoken about Koh Phangan beach due to the full moon party.
We stayed in the Thong Sala area of Koh Phangan and rented scooters for 180 Baht per day.
It’s definitely the easiest way to explore the island and takes roughly 30 minutes to reach Haad Rin Beach Koh Phangan from Thong Sala Pier.
Whilst in the area don’t forget to swing around to Leela Beach Koh Phangan.

What To Expect At The Beach In Haad Rin Koh Phangan
Haad Rin Koh Phangan Beaches can be divided into two sections.
There is a sunrise rise beach and a sunset beach. The sunrise beach (Haad Rin Nok) is the lively party beach in which the Full Moon Party is held, happening once at the end of every month.
The sunset beach (Haad Rin Nai) is the much quieter beach.
We only visited the sunrise beach, once in the day time and once at night. (Attending the Full Moon Party). With it having the largest concentration of rooms, clubs and bars, most tourists flock here to get right amongst the party vibe.
Haad Rin Beach in the day time is one of the most stunning beaches on the island. Considering this is the spot where all the parties happen, we didn’t expect it to be so beautiful.
There are restaurants and shops located in the town of Haad Rin Koh Phangan which is just few minutes walk away from the ocean.
You definitely won’t run out of the things to do in the tourist hub of Haad Rin Koh Phangan.
Night Life In Haad Rin Koh Phangan
Most of the nightlife in Haad Rin Koh Phangan happens at the beachfront.
Apart from the music and bars on the beach, a famous feature of Haad Rin Koh Phangan are the nightly fire shows.
Given the constant parties in this beach town, the area itself is relatively clean.
We attended the Full Moon Party in July 2018 and baring in mind that we don’t drink and never really party, it was surprisingly not as bad as we thought.
There were a lot more families with young children than we expected and it wasn’t all drunken tourists and vodka buckets.
