Hiriketiya Beach is located on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, just next door to the town of Dikwella.

To reach Dikwella we hopped on the local bus from Mirissa. It’s super cheap and took roughly an hour.

What To Expect At Hiriketiya Beach Sri Lanka

Hiriketiya Beach Sri Lanka, also known as Hiriketiya Bay, is a small stretch of beach that curves around the outside of Dikwella.

With the curve forming a bay like shape it causes the waves to come in high, attracting many surfers to the area.

Arugam Bay is one of the most recognisable spots in Sri Lanka for surfers. Although many people head to Hiriketiya Beach Sri Lanka for a quieter scene. There are a lot less people around and it attracts a much more chilled crowd.

If you’re not into surf then Hiriketiya Beach is still a perfect little spot to chill for the afternoon.

With hipster restaurants and quirky cafes dotted along the beach, you can relax and have a great time watching the surfer in action and enjoy the good vibes.

We almost forgot to mention that Hiriketiya Beach has some of the softest golden sand we saw on the whole island. With palm trees hanging over the bay, Hiriketiya Beach really is a jungle paradise.
