The Nine Arch Bridge Ella is one of the most iconic spots in the whole of Sri Lanka and rightly so. Here’s everything you need to know when visiting.
Where Is The Nine Arch Bridge Ella?
Ella Town is located right in the centre of the island and the Nine Arch Bridge is not so far from the main street.
You can get a tuk tuk for around 200 Rupees or you can walk there yourself through the jungle.
To walk from town it takes roughly 25 minutes and is definitely an easier spot to get to than Ella Rock.
What To Expect At The Nine Arch Bridge Ella
The Nine Arch Bridge Ella is definitely one of those iconic images that best represent Sri Lanka.
This destination is the most picturesque spot we visited in the country and we couldn’t put our cameras down once we were there!
The bridge is located right in the centre of the jungle, where tea is grown and the locals sell their coconuts.
The scheduled time for the famous Sri Lankan train to pass through the Nine Arch Bridge area is not always the same, and a lot of the time it’s late.
When we visited, we were told the train would pass at around 12pm, although we waited for over an hour and didn’t have any luck.
The day was good enough though. The adventure through the jungle, along the train tracks and the view from the edge of the tracks was awesome. Just please watch your step!
