Places To Visit In Jaisalmer – A Jaisalmer Tour
We arrived in Jaisalmer full of high spirits and ready to book our desert tour for a night under the stars together. We checked into Tokyo Palace Hotel, organised our Jaisalmer desert camp for the next day and spent that evening exploring the small, sandy town.
It’s fair to say we’d done absolutely zero research on the expeditions beforehand, unless saving a few cool photos from Instagram counts!
Jaisalmer Desert Camp
Ever dreamt of driving a 4×4 jeep through a crystal clean desert? Well Jaisalmer is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India for exactly this reason!
Not only do you spend a day flying through the sand and literally skidding around in the middle of nowhere. You can opt to camp out underneath the stars Indian style.
We spent the night tucked up around a fire while the tour guide cooked up home made Indian curries and we ate with our hands and shared travel stories. By far one of our greatest experiences ever, let alone in India!
Camel Safari In Jaisalmer
Taking a camel safari in Jaisalmer is still one of the most popular activities in town.
Although the age old debate remains as to whether it’s ethical or not? People flock in their groups to the experience a camel safari in Jaisalmer as part of their Jaisalmer tour.
Heading out into the desert for a 3-4 hour ride is not for everyone but where there’s demand people will pay.
One of the most famous landmarks and popular things to do in Jaisalmer is to visit the Jaisalmer Fort.
Like most towns in India, Jaisalmer comes with an incredible old fort and grounds although this one is different.
Known to be not only one of the largest forts in the world, but believed to be one of the very few “living forts” in the world as well. Nearly one fourth of the old city’s population is thought to still reside within the fort walls.
Definitely one of the most interesting places to visit in Jaisalmer!
