Rumah Pohon Molenteng, or the Nusa Penida Treehouse, is one of the most noticeable accommodations on the island. So we had to swing by and visit the magical place we’d seen online. It’s fair to say Rumah Pohon Treehouse is definitely one of the most random yet beautiful spots we’ve come across on our travels.
How To Get To Rumah Pohon Molenteng – The Nusa Penida Treehouse
The Eastern point is about a 1 hour 30 minutes drive from the ferry port and the roads are pretty rough as you get closer to all of the above locations. So please take care when driving!
On the first day of our Nusa Penida tour we took a day trip with @balinusapenidatour who covered all the iconic spots with ease, so if you’d rather visit with a car and a driver we can recommend them.
Entrance – 5,000 IDR
Parking – FREE
Mie Goreng – 15,000 IDR
Rumah Pohon Treehouse Nusa Penida
Once you pay entrance to the Ruman Pohon Molentang grounds it gives access to the Thousand Island Viewpoint also known as Pulau Seribu.
The stairway down is about a 10 minute walk and can be a little tough on a hot day. Although the views at the bottom are well worth it! They also have a small warung style shop at the entrance which was surprisingly cheap at only 15,000 for a Mie Goreng.
The Nusa Penida Treehouse itself is one of many famous spots on Penida thats become somewhat touristy thanks to Instagram photos.
Originally set up as a Air BnB, the wooden treehouse sits on the edge of a cliff with stunning views and fresh ocean air flowing through. When you see it in person it’s not hard to understand why it’s become an extremely popular spot to capture a magical fairytale like photo.
With the success of the original Rumah Pohon Treehouse on Nusa Penida, the owners have since built another two treehouse accommodations. They are available to camp out in for a memorable island experience.
With a small shared toilet and not much but a few wooden walls to sleep in. It would definitely be an awesome break away from the noise and tourism of Bali.
Waking up to the views of the coast would make an awesome end to your Nusa Penida trip. Although we’re not sure how we’d feel about people taking photos on our doorstep all day long!
