Sierra Helada Natural Park – Benidorm to Albir

About Sierra Helada

Sierra Helada Natural Park is a mountain and marine conservation area spanning across 13,750 acres in total. It’s best explored by boat or hiking trails, and is also one of the top adventurous things to do in the Benidorm area.

With 300 metre cliffs, and epic views out across the Mediterranean Sea, we spent a morning crossing the 8km Sierra Helada Natural Park trail from Benidorm to Albir.

The first marine and terrestrial park of the Valencia region takes around 4 hours to cross at a steady pace starting from The Cross Monument looking out over Benidorm town – an incredible Benidorm Viewpoint.

It is a pretty straight forward trail to follow if you stick to the cliff edges. Although we recommend taking a guide as these guys have done the trek hundreds of times. We used Marco Polo Expeditions and our guide was fantastic!

The Finer Details

You follow the cliff all the way to Alt Del Governador, up and over 4 or 5 cliff points. With the astonishing height, you’re rewarded with the most spectacular views of Benidorm City, it’s famous national park and of course the Spanish Mediterranean coast.

Be sure to take plenty of water and snacks and dress appropriately as this trail is no joke and the peak heat can burn you out in no time!

Keep aiming towards the antennas until you make it to the end of the trail and then follow signs down to Albir. The sign says 438m which took around 30 minutes to descend.

Once at the bottom if you have a guide you will be transported back to Benidorm. Otherwise you can hang around the beaches of Albir before catching the number 10 bus back to Benidorm!
